Mice have a bad association with a lot of people. Like their rodent friends, rats, mice are unfairly stereotyped as dirty, disease-ridden vermin who would benefit the world with their extinction. Not only is this not true of all wild mice, it's certainlly not true of domestic ones.
Mice are clean, smart, wiley and fun little animals to keep as pets. They can be kept in relatively small spaces (adequate room in their aquarium or cage is a must), are amusing to watch, fun to play with, rewarding to bond with, and fairly inexpensive (food and bedding-wise) to keep. Like all pets, mice sometimes need to go to the vet, need medical procedures like surgeries, and may require medication. If you are not prepared or willing to spend money (sometimes hundreds of dollars, depending) on emergencies, sickness or other needs for your mouse, please reconsider owning one.
